I am Dr. László Balázs, the owner and managing director of Enigma Finance Ltd. Before founding my own financial advisory firm, I spent twenty years in senior executive positions in the commercial banking, insurance, and leasing sectors.

I graduated as a financial institution specialist and later earned a doctorate in law, as knowledge of the legal framework is a great asset in risk management. I began my career in the post-transition period, when the subsidiaries of newly emerging international corporations and the dynamically growing Hungarian-owned small and medium-sized enterprises required regular capital injections, which, in turn, necessitated tailored financing solutions.

Thanks to my experience and passion for my profession, after holding a senior lending and risk management position at the German-owned HYPO-BANK, I was the Chairman and CEO of Volksbank Hungary Zrt. from 2002 to 2012. Under my leadership, the bank rose from 19th to 9th place in Hungary’s total asset rankings, expanding into a major commercial bank with a network of 65 branches.

Holding a top executive position taught me responsibility, process management, and structural development, while also giving me the opportunity to turn strategic visions into reality.

I learned that for a company to achieve success and balanced growth, it is essential not only to recognize strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks but also to integrate appropriate financing models.

In 2012, I passed on the high-intensity executive role, akin to extreme sports like mountain climbing, to others. As a first-generation commercial banker, I now use my knowledge, experience, and network - together with the Enigma Finance team - to help others reach their own peaks and clear the path to success.
